Reading the Sales Summary Report

See your shop's sales over a chosen period — total revenue, gross profit, cars counted, and average repair order — and break it down by category, advisor, or technician.

Contents

The Sales Summary report is the fastest look at what your shop sold in a given period. It shows total revenue, gross profit, cars counted, and average repair order (ARO), and you can break the numbers down by category, advisor, or technician.

💡 You’ll need

  • Owner or manager access to reports

Opening the Report

Go to Reports → Sales → Sales Summary. The report starts on the current month.

Choosing a Date Range

Use the Range filter to pick This week, This month (default), Last month, This quarter, or Custom. Choosing Custom opens start and end date fields.

The Summary Cards

Three cards across the top summarize the period:

  • Total Revenue — all invoiced sales
  • Car Count — distinct vehicles on the report
  • ARO — average repair order (revenue divided by invoices)

Below these, a second row shows Gross Profit, GP%, and Effective Labor Rate (per hour).

Gross Profit by Segment

The Gross Profit by Segment section splits revenue, cost, and GP by Labor, Parts, and Sublet for the period.

Grouping and Filtering

Use Group By to split the breakdown by Category, Advisor, or Technician (or leave it on None (Shop Total)). Narrow the results with the Writer (advisor) and Tech (technician) filters. When grouped, a Breakdown by table shows Jobs, Revenue, Total Cost, GP$, and GP% per group, with a Totals row.

Exporting

Click Export in the header to download the current results as a CSV spreadsheet file, ready for bookkeeping.

Tips

  • Use this report for month-end — it’s the quickest check of revenue and profit.
  • Group by advisor or technician to spot who’s writing the most profitable work.
