Switching shop systems doesn’t mean retyping everything. Wenmar Pro can bring over your customers, vehicles, fleet accounts, parts, and vendors from a CSV file — the kind you can export from most shop systems or a spreadsheet.
💡 You’ll need
- A CSV file of the data you want to bring over (customers, vehicles, parts, or vendors)
- Owner or manager access to Wenmar Pro
Two Ways to Bring Your Data
Self-serve CSV import — You upload a CSV file and Wenmar Pro checks it, shows you what it found, and imports the valid rows. This is the fastest path and works for customers, vehicles, fleets, parts, and vendors.
We import it for you — During setup, you can choose “I have existing data” and upload your data in any format (CSV, Excel, a database export, even screenshots). The Wenmar Pro team reviews it and imports it for you, usually within one business day. This is a good option if your data is messy or you’re not sure how to export it.
Importing a CSV File
Step 1: Open the Import screen
Go to the list page for what you’re importing — Customers, Vehicles, Fleets, Inventory, or Vendors — and click the Import button in the top-right.
Step 2: Download the template
On the import screen, click Download Template to get a CSV template showing the exact columns Wenmar Pro expects. Each row needs at least one of first_name or company_name for customers. Email and phone are optional but checked for format if you include them.
Step 3: Upload your CSV
Click Upload CSV and pick your file. Wenmar Pro accepts CSV files up to 5 MB (about 10,000 rows). It reads the column headers and matches them to what it expects — so a column named name or full_name is treated the same as first_name.
Step 4: Review the summary
Wenmar Pro shows an Import Summary with three numbers: Total Rows Found, Valid Rows Ready, and Rows with Errors. If it found duplicates, it tells you how many it will skip. You can expand Show X errors to see exactly which rows have problems.
Step 5: Start the import
Click Import X customers, skip Y errors (the wording changes to match what you’re importing). For larger files, Wenmar Pro processes the import in the background and shows a progress banner on the list page when it’s done. If any rows failed, you can download an Errors CSV to see what went wrong and fix it.
What You Can Import
| What | Notes |
|---|---|
| Customers | People and companies, with multiple contacts, tags, billing terms, and referral source |
| Vehicles | Must link to a customer (by legacy ID, email, or phone) |
| Fleets | Fleet accounts and their vehicles in one file |
| Inventory | Parts, including tire and battery fields |
| Vendors | Your suppliers |
Tips
- Use the template — It shows the exact column names Wenmar Pro reads. Matching them saves you from error rows.
- Fix errors, don’t skip them — Download the Errors CSV, fix the problem rows, and re-import just those.
- Large files run in the background — Files over 1,000 rows are processed in the background, so you can keep working while they import.
